Recreational & Developmental Fencing Programs: Beg-Adv.
STEP 1: Beginning Fencing Classes & Camps
The LEARN TO FENCE class/camp is a fun filled program of swordplay & Olympic fencing for those with no or little experience. You will learn basic footwork, bladework, do some drills, play games, and get to fence each other each day. Upon completion, you will be ready for the next level of class. These classes/camps are held at the California Fencing Academy Gym at 440 Marathon Drive, Campbell. You get your own personal rental equipment and insurance for the duration of the activity which is paid with the additional material fee due the first day for $25.00 for classes/$80.00 for camps payable to the coach on the first day by cash or check payable to California Fencing Academy.
After your beginning class/camp graduation, if you want to continue with fencing in the CFA Recreational Program you would become a California Fencing Academy Member. All equipment can be rented (for a fee) or purchased (to have your own).
STEP 2: Recreational Fencing Classes & Camps. For beginning to advanced members
This is the level after the Beginning course or camp. We start to teach actions and tactics as a team, and as an individual based on how you naturally approach fencing, we also work to get that sweet technical base through positive reinforcement with high expectations of effort. We start to learn about competition formats and incorporate all types of fun and positive ways to learn this awesome Olympic sport. If you are thinking competitive sport in the future, you want to start two days weekly as soon as possible. Private lessons are available. Fencers should own their electrical equipment.
Leveling up from Recreational to Developmental is easy. We let you know when they are ready. We evaluate monthly and we level up in groups as much as possible of course.
STEP 3: Developmental Fencing Classes & Camps
This is the bridge between recreational and youth non-travel team level. The classes take you to an awesome level of fencing with a deeper concentration in technique and strategies. We start working not only on more actions but building on your action. You will get to many different types of bouting formats and learn new games and fun drills. The youth non-travel team can then lead to the CFA National Team program if that is your goal.
Remember you do not have to be competitive in our club. We have a solid, caring, progressive recreational program unlike any other club we know of. However, we have produced some of the top fencers in the country and world and we are an elite fencing club with students getting into many major University in the country.
